Safety Barriers Installed on Gading Raya Boulevard Bridge Sidewalk

The North Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency carried out temporary security measures on the Jalan Boulevard Gading Raya bridge, near the BGR Pump House, Kelapa Gading Barat Urban Village, Kelapa Gading District following damage to the pedestrian path or sidewalk of the bridge.

Minimize the risk

Head of the Roads, Bridges, and Road Facilities Section of the Sub-agency, Libertus Sagala, said that security measures were implemented on Monday (9/14) evening after his party received a report regarding the condition of the bridge.

"We immediately checked the condition of the bridge and carried out temporary security measures to minimize the risk to road users," he said, Thursday (9/17).

Libertus explained that the damaged and collapsed section was the bridge's arm or sidewalk. To prevent road users from passing through the area, personnel installed a movable concrete barrier (MCB) approximately 20 meters long.

He stated that the bridge's main structure and foundations are generally sound and safe for vehicles to cross. This bridge serves as a vital access point for residents traveling from Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan to the Kelapa Gading area and vice versa.

"People do not need to worry because the main structure and foundation are still strong so it can still be passed," he explained.

The bridge is currently listed as an asset owned by developer PT Budi Gria Permai. The asset handover process, through a grant to the Jakarta Provincial Government, is ongoing, involving the Public Works Agency, the North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency, PT Budi Gria Permai, and the Regional Asset Management Agency.

"We can only carry out permanent repairs after waiting for the grant process and asset administration to be completed in accordance with procedures," he stated.
